University of Gratitude

I teach tools that include but not limited to: ● Gratitude Journaling ● meditation ● manifestation ● love language ● brain based learning ● learning style ● song analysis ● personal resumes & letters of interest The WHY These tools push people to recognize and appreciate the GOOD; then, become active participants in their own lives. By recording these Gratitudes, investing in Wellness and building Mindset, people are focused on what they have instead of what is missing

What it is…

An INTERACTIVE approach to Gratitude Journaling. Matter of fact… Here, I’m saying it. University of Gratitude is a safe place, a remote laboratory of learning, led DAILY by Kendrick Avant, wheelchair-bound with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. The approach is INTERACTIVE because I’m there every day, Sunday – Saturday. Nope, I do not take weekends off, nor skip holidays. Look, mindset is EVERYTHING when we’re considering the amount of bullshit thrown at us. Bills are due, we’re trying to make ends meet, keep the kids cute and enjoy a little peace. Just a little. A fucking little. So, I started an online University to teach others this invaluable skill. The skill to focus on what is good despite the bullshit, negativity, limitations, and dark thoughts.

WHY I’m doing this…

I get that. I live with PPMS, Spondylosis, Ulcerative Colitis, IBD, a 5cm kidney tumor, 6+ herniated discs, 6+ bulging discs. Yup, I’m 100% wheelchair-bound, handicapped, knee contractures, limited use of left arms and limited in right eye. My chronic illness has no cure. I am unemployed due to these disabilities and handicaps. I do NOT receive any state assistance because although I taught public school for almost 20 years, I pulled my retirement before the Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis and that invalidate me for all state assistance. Nope, I don’t get healthcare. Nope, I don’t get a disability check. Heeeeeell naw, no SSI or Medicaid either. I’m out here treating all my health conditions with mindset and holistic natural methods.

I’ve grown at an exponential rate since my consciousness pursuit to BE better despite the prognosis, outlook or analysis. I’ve learned through raw experience that a dedicated time to acknowledge and track my successes benefits me by increasing my resiliency. I focus precious and valuable energy on the WHY statements, the stories behind the what. According to the research, over 80% of our thoughts are negative. We allow replays of our mistakes to infiltrate our good mood. We doubt our abilities at work or home which magnifies into imposter syndrome. We waste quality time with loved ones because we don’t OVER-stand our loved ones nor accept their weaknesses.

I’m doing this to alleviate stressors and OVER-thinking. I’m doing this to help others see the good and value in their existence. I’m doing this because I wish I had this to follow when I was younger. A consistent guide, mentor, light to look at on my dark days. Somebody that matched ME, had walked the roads I intended to travel and offered insight. I am who I needed and extend myself to others for their growth and perspective.

The mindset OVER bullshit Gratitude Journal

Topics are the individual segments of mindset OVER bullshit University. Each and every day, we work through our Gratitude Journals as a team, sharing stories, sharing inspiration, sharing details that make life easier to manage. We do this by meeting in the PRIVATE FB group for LIVE coaching and questions. (Don’t worry, ALL episodes are saved to the FB group for later views and such.)

*bows*: I open every mindset OVER bullshit University with an ode to particular, specific population. Sometimes, it’s a job like Customer Service Representative or Teacher. Others, I’m giving honors and respect to aunts, best friends, disabled parents, caretakers with unseen disabilities and… Well, you probably get it. I want to show love to those who aren’t getting it enough. #grateful

Intention: It is important to set intentions because it sets the tone for the day. The intention can be physical, emotional, work-related, anything. Think of intentions as your priority.

Call To Action: These are defined, straightforward instructions for the day. It could be something as simple as a reminder to cancel free trials or something

Value: Ooooo! THIS is clearly defined huh? I actually can’t stand to be told that value is given to me. What if I don’t find the tips, strategy, advice to be valuable? Weeeeeell, it ain’t valuable but that doesn’t invalidate the value. I’m dropping gems that everyone

King’s Care: Self-care homie. Self-care playa. Self-care DADDY. You get it? Nope, I don’t do bubble baths and long showers either because I’m disabled af. Every day, I’m doing SOME-thing at a specific time for ME. Not for her, not for them, not for everyone. Something for me, Kendrick. I might schedule a 30min restroom break while the kids are here. Maaaaaaybe, I’ll play slow screwed-and-chopped songs, out loud, all day. Do I ever buy myself stuff for self-care? Yuuuuup.

King’s News: I refuse to start lying to y’all. I do not care about most of the crap shown on cable TV or local news. ESPECIALLY, since the national news is stocked with commercials and flagrant attempts to shock viewers into purchases. I’m not here for it, any of it. I DO care about something. Example, that recent slap at the Oscars…

THAT had me ready to comment, respond, defend, tell stories and everything!

Goal: People are 42% more likely to complete a goal if it is written down. FORTY-TWO! To make best use of this, I write goals down for the day to support myself finishing them. The goals can be business-related, social type of stuff, even workout or yoga. Anything I feel is necessary for improvement. Yup, calling my momma is one.
